Domingo German authored a perfect game against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday night, as the New York Yankees starter allowed no hits and no walks on 99 pitches in an 11-0 victory.

In an up-and-down season that has included a suspension, and a sub-.500 record headed into Wednesday's start, German was masterful against the last-place Athletics, mixing his pitches, keeping his defense busy and engaged, and posting nine strikeouts along the way.

Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson leads with 81 career leadoff home runs, including a single-season-high nine with the Yankees in 1986. Henderson's 3,081 games played is the fourth-highest total in MLB history.

Two-thousand hits hadn't been much of a thought in Freddie Freeman's mind; the hallowed number, and the ultimate goal, is 3,000. But his 6-year-old son, Charlie, kept reminding him about it.

The Los Angeles Dodgers' homestand was coming to an end, a mini slump was prolonging, and Freeman was running out of time. Finally, with two outs in the eighth inning of Sunday's home finale, it came -- a scorching double into the right-center-field gap and career hit No. 2,000, making Freeman the sixth active player to reach the milestone.

Andrew McCutchen recorded his 2,000th hit, Jack Suwinski hit his 12th home run and the Pittsburgh Pirates edged the Mets 2-1 on Sunday, New York's eighth loss in nine games.

McCutchen became the 291st player and fifth active player to reach 2,000 hits when he turned on a slider from Carlos Carrasco (2-3) leading off the first and laced it to left field.

Luis Arraez had a career-high five hits and five RBIs and the Miami Marlins beat the Oakland Athletics 12-1 on Saturday.

The major leagues' leading hitter, Arraez hit three doubles and two singles to raise his average to .390. He joins Justin Turner in 2017 as the only players over the past 10 years to be batting .390 or better at least 200 at-bats into a season, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. Turner, who was batting .390 through 205 at-bats, finished that season with a .294 average.

Howard Johnson, Al Leiter Headline Mets HOF Class

Howard Johnson and Al Leiter were inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame prior to the team's game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

Johnson played for New York from 1985 through 1993. He ranks third in team history with 202 stolen bases and fourth in both homers (192) and RBI (629). Leiter grew up a Mets fan in New Jersey before pitching for the team from 1998 through 2004.
